The religious broadcaster who made the world’s biggest mistake, twice, is bewildered that things did not go according to his prediction and the world did not end at 6 pm on May 21.

Harold Camping, whose radio network is reported to be worth between USD 70 million and USD 120 million, was nowhere to be seen publicly Sunday after his prediction didn’t come true, according to media reports on Monday.

Camping’s Family Radio network in Oakland, California, broadcasts on 150 stations in the US, as well as reaching audiences in Europe, Asia and Africa.

Tom Evans, a Family Radio board member, told ABC News Camping was at his Oakland home “somewhat bewildered” and “mystified” that the rapture did not happen.

ABC News quoted Evans as saying that he believed the public was owed an apology and the board would meet on Tuesday to figure out what to do.

“It has been a really tough weekend,” the 89-year-old radio preacher who convinced hundreds of his followers that the world would end on Saturday at 6 pm, said.

“I’m looking for answers, but now I have nothing else to say,” Camping said, adding “I’ll be back to work Monday and will say more then.”

Camping’s prediction is based on his reading of the Bible and a timeline dating back to ancient events including the Biblical flood survived by Noah. Camping and his followers believed the beginning of the end will come on May 21, exactly 7,000 years since the flood in the biblical story of Noah’s Ark.

Some 200 million people will be saved, Camping preaches, and those left behind will die in earthquakes, plagues, and other calamities until Earth is consumed by a fireball on October 21.

Camping had earlier said the world would end in 1994. Experts said on Monday, Camping’s false prophecy could have big impacts on religion and colour the world’s perception about Christianity.

Harold Camping’s prediction of the rapture dominated the headlines over the weekend and predictably ‘rapture’ jokes overtook Twitter trends. “I don’t want to sound like I’m bragging or anything, but this is the fifth end of the world I’ve survived#rapture,” said Steven Johnston who uses the handle ‘sjohnston436′ on Twitter. Another user wrote “No rapture – just a huge hotel bill.”

The 89-year-old retired civil engineer has built a multi-million-dollar nonprofit ministry based on his apocalyptic prediction. In 2009, the nonprofit reported in tax filings that it received USD 18.3 million in donations, and had assets of more than USD 104 million, including USD 34 million in stocks or other publicly traded securities.

Back in April of 1912 the Titanic set sail on what would be a disastrous crossing of the Atlantic Ocean, and 100 years later, James Cameron’s legendary film will be re-released in 3D.

“Titanic 3D” will hit theaters on April 6th 2012 and director James Cameron told press he can’t wait for everyone to see it.

“There’s a whole generation that’s never seen Titanic as it was meant to be seen, on the big screen. And this will be Titanic as you’ve never seen it before, digitally remastered at 4K and painstakingly converted to 3D. With the emotional power intact and the images more powerful than ever, this will be an epic experience for fans and newcomers alike.”

Originally released in 1997, “Titanic” is the second highest grossing film of all time, just behind Cameron’s “Avatar.”

Bollywood star Aamir khan may be roped in place of Salman Khan to host the fifth season of TV reality show Big Boss.

Aamir khan was reluctant to host such shows early as they struck chord with the audience. Now he is on the verge of competing with the likes of Shahrukh khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and of course the Big B.

While reports say Salman Khan is keen on hosting ‘Bigg Boss 5’, reliable sources of Endemol, which produces the reality show have a different opinion.

The production house has reportedly gone for another host, who is likely to be Aamir Khan.

Aamir hasn’t done a reality show yet and so Bigg Boss 5 will definitely become a good platform for his debut as a television host.

It’s raining in New York, and everyone tries to get out of the rain. Not Manny. Unflappable, he stands on a corner with his umbrella, warning people that on Saturday, May 21, the world will end.

All over New York, preachers armed with T-shirts, brochures, books and posters are preaching the end of the world. Using a complex numerical calculation from the Bible, there are even advertisements on the New York city subway warning of the “great earthquake” that accompanies the advent of Judgement Day.

“According to the Bible, in the Book of Revelations there will be a worldwide earthquake,” Manny said. “We’re not sure if it will happen at the same time everywhere, because times are different. But it is supposed to happen simultaneously around the world,” the 56-year old from the Dominican Republic told AFP.

The date of May 21, 2011 may seem random, but it is based on a numerical analysis by Harold Camping, the president of Family Radio, a religious broadcaster based in California.

“According to Genesis, when the flood occurred in the year 4990, God told Noah that in seven days he would destroy the earth,” Manny explained. “And he destroyed it in seven days.

“But Peter said: ‘I know that one day for me is like a thousand years.’ So 4990 plus 7001 years (the equivalent of seven days) equals 2011,” he explained.

Not only that, May 21 coincides with the 17th day of the second month of the calendar used during the Biblical flood, according to Camping.

Nearby the corner where Manny is prophesying, Borce, 43, is handing out leaflets and explaining to anyone who will listen that they have a few hours left to find salvation.

“Right now there is still salvation, but when May 21st gonna come, the salvation program is finished, God gonna shut the door, and after that only five months remain for the unsaved of the world, and they’re gonna be suffering and on the 21st October, God gonna destroy this world with fire,” Borce said.

If Manny and Borce are out on the noisy New York City streets everyday spreading the word, they are planning to be in a quieter place when the fateful moment arrives.

“Until Friday, I gonna still pray for God for mercy. Saturday I’ll be at home, just watching the news, because the doors will be shut,” said Borce, who is American.

“I will kneel and ask God’s mercy to see if he can save me, because God wants salvation for everyone,” said Manny, who was at his side.

Despite their faith, both men realize that their message is often ridiculed. “People do not believe it,” said Manny. “It is typical of what happened in Noah’s time, where only eight people were saved. According to the Bible, only 200 million people will be saved” this time, Manny said.

To Borce, that reaction is predictable. “The people are laughing, they laugh at us,” he says, adding: “Pray until Friday.”

Meanwhile, enterprising atheists across 26 states have set up a business to care for the animal companions of any Christians who are selected to go to heaven when Jesus Christ comes back

“You’ve committed your life to Jesus. You know you’re saved. But when the Rapture comes, what’s to become of your loving pets who are left behind?” Eternal Earth-Bound Pets says on its website, offering to “take that burden off your mind.”

The post-doomsday pet rescue service already has 259 clients, who have paid $135 for the first pet and $20 for each additional pet at the same address, to ensure the faithful animal companions are looked after and loved even when their Christian owners have gone to the other side.

All the rescuers are sworn atheists, which means they will definitely be left behind on Earth, ready to rescue pets after the Rapture.

When judgment day happens, Eternal Earth-Bound Pets co-founder Bart Centre “will notify all of our rescuers to go into action and they will drive to the homes of anyone who’s signed a contract with us, pick up their pets and take them home and adopt them as their own, keeping them happy and healthy for the rest of their lives.

“This will happen only if and when the Rapture happens. So we do not expect to have to do anything on Saturday,” Centre told AFP.

Contracts are good for 10 years, just in case the Mayan calendar prophesy, which predicts the world will end in December next year, comes true.

Samsung’s 8.9 inch Galaxy Tab refresh has once again found itself caught on camera, this time by the mforum.ru at the device’s Russian launch last week.

As well as showing a handful of TouchWiz UI modifcations made to the stock Android Honeycomb OS installed here, the video also reveals a keyboard dock for the Tab. Though not quite as portable as the one currently shipping with the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer tablet, it’ll still be a welcome accessory for anyone wanting to use the Tab for some more intensive typing.

Samsung, Apple’s on and off again best friend forever, is bringing their 2.3 lbs Series 9 to market to compete with the Macbook Air. The 11.6-inch lightweight is now shipping from retailers in the US. The slim aluminum bodied laptop comes in at .64 inches of thickness – a whopping 0.04 inches thinner than the Macbook Air.

However, they both come in at 2.3lbs so it’s a tie in the “lighter than Air” claim.

The Samsung Series 9 retails at $1,159.99 from Amazon, has a 64GB SSD, boots up in 3 seconds, has 7 hour battery life, uses a 1.33GHz Intel Core i3 Dual Core Processor, and has 2GBs of RAM.

In contrast, the 11-inch 64GB SSD Air costs $999 and uses the older Core 2 Duo processors but everything else looks much for muchness.

The price point for the Series 9 is a bit strange too. You would expect rivals to attempt to undercut Apple on the price but instead they opted to copy the Air and charge a bit more.

Nice strategy! Let us know how it works out.

Osama youngest son Hamza

One of Osama bin Laden’s sons went missing in the midst of the US Navy SEALs’ raid that eliminated the most wanted terrorist in his Abbottabad hideout more than a week ago, according to the slain al-Qaeda chief’s three wives who are in the Pakistani custody.

The women said that one of Laden’s sons has not been seen since the May 2 raid, unnamed Pakistani officials said.

The son was not identified, but Pakistani investigators agreed that it appeared that someone was missing from the sprawling compound, the report said.

Later, however, one US official said there was no evidence that anyone was missing from the Abbottabad compound.

Senator Dianne Feinstein, Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, said in a recent briefing with the CIA, there was no mention of a missing son.

US officials said that one of bin Laden’s sons, Khalid, was killed in the raid. It is not known if youngest son, Hamza, was in the compound at the time of the raid, though his mother is reportedly among the wives of Laden who are in custody.

The US has previously denied the SEALs took anyone from the compound other than Laden’s body.

With the debut of the Iconia Tab A500, Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Acer is the latest to throw its hat into the tablet ring.

As of Friday morning, the A500 is up for preorder on Best Buy’s web site for $450. It will be ready for purchase in Best Buy retail stores beginning April 24.

The tablet will run Android version 3.0 (Honeycomb) on its NVIDIA Tegra 250 1GHz dual-core processor, supported by a gig of RAM.

The price ranks in at just below the cheapest iPad 2, which costs $500 and is Wi-Fi only with 16GB of internal storage (just like the Iconia A500). At $600, Motorola’s WiFi-only Xoom remains the most expensive Honeycomb-powered tablet option (though the extra hundred bucks will buy you a full 32GB of internal storage, among other things). Acer plans to eventually release a 32GB model, although no details on this have been given.

Acer’s tablet won’t be competing with those in the 4G realm yet—the A500 will be available in a Wi-Fi version first, and a 4G version will eventually make its way to AT&T’s network.

The A500’s 10.1-inch display boasts a 1280×800 resolution ratio (equal to that of the Xoom, and better than the iPad 2). You can watch HD 720p video on the screen, or use the HDMI output to view stored media on external screens. A 5-megapixel rear facing camera comes for shooting photos and video, while the 2-megapixel front facing camera allows for video chat.

Like the other Android tablets to debut in 2011, the A500 will trail Google’s flagship Honeycomb device, Motorola’s Xoom, to market. Samsung’s currently available version of its seven-inch Galaxy Tab runs Android version 2.2—we won’t see Honeycomb on a Samsung device until the 10.1-inch version ships (although delays have pushed back the larger version’s release).

And in what seems to be the beginning of a disturbing trend in tablet debuts, the A500 will support Flash eventually, but won’t ship with it. Motorola’s Xoom, which debuted six weeks ago, also launched without Flash, though a beta release is currently available for Honeycomb in the Android Market.

With the BlackBerry Playbook set to debut on April 19 and a number of offerings to follow, Acer’s preorder ploy is an attempt to push out the Iconia before other tablets hit the market.
